Human Serum Delipidated
Lipid-depleted human serum matrix from EU-qualified donors — for lipemia interference studies, IVD assay development and lipid metabolism research. Available in three variants: standard delipidated, delipidated + IgG-free, and double charcoal treated.
Three Variants — One Product Family
Human Serum Delipidated
From defibrinated plasma. Lipoproteins and lipids removed. IgG intact. Standard matrix for lipemia interference evaluation per CLSI EP7.
Human Serum Delipidated + IgG Free
Lipids and endogenous IgG both depleted. For antibody detection assays where background IgG would interfere with the signal.
Double Charcoal Treated & Delipidated
From defibrinated plasma. Lipids, hormones and steroids removed by double charcoal treatment. Ideal for endocrine and steroid receptor assay development.
Applications
| Application | Recommended Variant | Key Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Lipemia interference studies (IVD) | SP1010 — Standard delipidated | CLSI EP7 compliant baseline matrix |
| Antibody detection assay development | Humser_delip — IgG-free | Eliminates endogenous IgG background signal |
| Hormone / steroid assay calibrators | F12010 — Double charcoal | Removes endogenous hormones and steroids completely |
| Lipoprotein / lipid metabolism research | SP1010 — Standard delipidated | Lipoprotein-depleted blank matrix |
| IVD calibrator matrix (EU IVDR) | SP1010 or Humser_delip | Human matrix matching per regulatory requirement |
| Cell culture — lipid-free | SP1010 — Standard delipidated | For lipid metabolism studies requiring lipid-free serum |

Frequently Asked Questions
What is delipidated human serum?
Delipidated human serum is processed to remove lipoproteins and lipids while retaining other serum proteins including immunoglobulins, albumin and growth factors. It is used as a lipid-free matrix for interference studies, as a negative control in lipoprotein assays, and as a base matrix for IVD calibrator development where lipid interference must be excluded.
What is the difference between delipidated and double charcoal treated serum?
Standard delipidated serum (SP1010) removes lipoproteins and lipids, leaving IgG and hormones intact. Double charcoal treated serum (F12010) undergoes additional activated charcoal extraction which also removes hormones, steroids and other small hydrophobic molecules. Choose F12010 for endocrine assay development or steroid receptor studies where endogenous hormone background must be eliminated.
Can delipidated serum be used for cell culture?
Yes — in specific applications. For lipid metabolism research where a lipid-free serum baseline is required, delipidated human serum is the appropriate supplement. It is not recommended as a general-purpose cell culture supplement because lipoprotein removal also reduces growth-supporting lipid components. For standard cell culture, Human Serum Type AB is more appropriate.
Is a test sample available?
Yes — contact us at info@seamlessbio.de or +49 851 37932226 to request a test sample of any variant. Batch reservation is available without prepayment once you have validated a lot in your system.
Is lot reservation available for long-term IVD projects?
Yes — SeamlessBio offers lot reservation for all human serum products. For IVD assay development projects with multi-year production requirements, we hold your validated lot in storage and release volumes as needed. No prepayment required during the reservation phase.
