FBS Ultra Low IgG & Low IgG — For Hybridoma & Antibody Production
Standard FBS contains 200–800 µg/mL bovine IgG. In hybridoma culture and monoclonal antibody production workflows, this bovine IgG contaminates the culture supernatant and directly interferes with downstream antibody detection, purification, and characterisation. Ultra Low IgG FBS reduces bovine IgG to below 50 µg/mL — typically by protein A or DEAE purification — without affecting the growth-promoting properties of the serum.
When Ultra Low IgG is essential: Any workflow where antibody concentration or purity in culture supernatant is measured. Protein A/G purification steps where bovine IgG competes with your antibody of interest. ELISA detection of IgG where bovine background elevates non-specific signal. Western blot with secondary anti-IgG antibodies where cross-reactivity with bovine IgG causes background bands.
