BSA Fraction V pH 5.2 — Acidic Buffer Applications & pH-Dependent Assays

Standard BSA Fraction V is supplied at pH 6.8–7.2. For applications that require albumin at acidic pH — or where the BSA must be dissolved and used directly without pH adjustment — BSA pre-adjusted to pH 5.2 eliminates the need for time-consuming buffer titration and the risk of protein aggregation during pH adjustment.

BSA pH 5.2 corresponds to approximately the isoelectric point (pI) region of albumin (~4.7–5.2), where electrostatic interactions with charged surfaces differ from neutral pH conditions. This property is exploited in specific immunoassay and protein chemistry applications.
