Frequently Asked Questions about SpecPlate

1. What is SpecPlate and what makes it unique?

SpecPlate is a redesigned UV/Vis microplate with fixed optical path lengths, flat well bottoms, and no meniscus formation. It offers higher reproducibility and eliminates the need for dilution in many cases.

2. Do I need to change my plate reader or workflow?

No. SpecPlate is fully ANSI/SLAS compatible and works with most standard plate readers without any adjustments to your workflow.

3. Can SpecPlate replace standard UV cuvettes or NanoDrop measurements?

It depends. For high-throughput and broader concentration ranges, yes. However, for ultra-low volume single measurements (e.g. <1 µl), NanoDrop or cuvettes may still be suitable. The ideal solution is hybrid use.

4. What volumes and concentration ranges are supported?

SpecPlate supports path lengths from 100 µm to 2000 µm in the same well, enabling broad concentration detection without needing dilution. Recommended working volume: ~100 µl per well.

5. How can I test SpecPlate in my lab?
