3D bioprocessing bags differ from flat 2D formats in their three-dimensional geometry, which is specifically designed to maximise surface area for gas exchange — a critical factor in mammalian cell culture and microbial fermentation, where oxygen transfer rate directly affects cell growth and product titre.
These bags are designed for use on rocking or orbital bioreactor platforms, where the bag's motion promotes both mixing and gas exchange without the need for traditional impeller-based agitation, reducing shear stress on sensitive cell lines.
